One Cool Rock

As far as rock rankings go, I’d have to put Ayers Rock just behind Fraggle Rock, but definitely ahead of the geode I received as a present in fifth grade.

Ayers Rock is smack dab in the middle of the Australian Outback. A place where the 'cold water' runs hot and toilet seats always feel 'just used.' Aside from the sauna-like heat and relentless flies, it’s a pretty neat place. You can climb the rock (1000 ft almost straight up), hike around it (10km), see it at sunrise, see it at sunset, and discuss its attributes with other interesting travelers. We did all of the above and also hiked another cool rock formation – the Olgas.

I don't get your Fraggle Rock comment. Is Ayer's Rock worth the visit? Did you visit the aborigine museum right next to it that tries to dissuade you from climbing it?

I showed the pic of you infront of Ayers Rock to a bunch of people at work. All but one were like, "What's that big red thing in the back?" Americans are such idiots!
